How These Entrepreneurs Made Their Businesses Thrive In The New Normal
For the award-winning entrepreneurs behind toktok, going digital was the only way forward.

While many consider 2020 to be a year full of losses and disappointments, we can all agree that it also opened the door to new opportunities and bright spots in the digital space. In fact, for award-winning entrepreneurs and childhood friends Jonathan So and Carlito Macadangdang, it was the only way forward.
Once known for their series of food cart franchises and organic health products, the duo found themselves thriving in the new normal courtesy of toktok, a Hail Mary venture that quickly turned into one of the most prominent online delivery businesses in the country. "Ito 'yung pinaka-mahirap na panahon para mag-negosyo," Jonathan points out. "But I think it's an obligation ng mga businessmen na mag-take ng risk para ma-fuel ang economy natin."
Carlito agrees: "We're really happy and proud to say na kung 'yung iba nakikita natin na maraming na-le-layoff, kami, na-maintain namin siya and much more. We really strive to add more people, para makatulong sa tao."
On a mission to inspire fellow entrepreneurs to follow the same path, Carlito and Jonathan sat down with Esquire Philippines to discuss the story of how toktok came about. Watch this:
