Bienvenido "Benny" Tantoco, Sr. passed away at 100 years old on July 6, 2021.

The co-founder of Rustan's Group and patriarch of the Tantoco clan had just reached a century old on April 2021. Known simply as "Lolo Benny" to family and close friends, Tantoco founded Rustan's in 1951 with his late wife, Gliceria "Glecy" Rustia-Tantoco, who passed away in 1994.

The "father of luxury retail" in the Philippines was also the 48th wealthiest man in the country at the time of his death, with an estimated net worth of $140 million. His wealth was derived from Store Specialists Inc. (SSI) Group, a publicly listed Filipino company that has brought luxury brands like Prada and Gucci to the Philippines.

He is survived by his six children, Bienvenido Jr., Nedy, Menchu Lopez, Marilen Tantoco, Merl Pineda, and Tokie Enriquez, and their respective children and grandchildren.
