Restaurants have closed, chefs have been left unemployed, small businesses have shut down, and in the art community, hundreds if not thousands of visual artists have lost their source of income for these five months.
In response to this, Metrobank and GT Capital Holdings are donating P1 million to support struggling Filipino artists though the Metrobank Foundation Inc.
The program, called Metrobank Art & Design Excellence Community Aid and Relief for Emergency Situations (MADE CARES for short) will be donating P5,000 worth of cash assistance to 200 visual artists in the Philippines whose projects and livelihoods have been affected by the pandemic.
A total of P115,000 has already been donated to the first batch of beneficiaries, and if you’re interested in applying, Metrobank still has 177 slots left. Whether or not you’re an artist who’s participated in Metrobank’s annual painting and sculpture programs, you can apply for aid by clicking the link here.
Prior to its art support program, Metrobank has also donated P220 million to fund the fight against COVID-19 by donating PPEs, funding the production of local testing kits, food programs for the underprivileged, constructing laboratories, and much more.
