The First Ever Philippine Fintech Festival is Happening This May in BGC

The country’s first ever Philippine Fintech Festival (PFF) is taking place on May 20 to 21, 2020, at Shangri-La at The Fort, Bonifacio Global City. With the Philippines being pitched as an emerging hotbed for financial and technological innovations, the PFF is set to gather the biggest movers and shakers in the business for a two-day event that will essentially act as a giant incubator for the Philippines' next great ideas.
“The Philippines is primed to move on to the next level of transition into a world-class digital economy via the Philippine Fintech Festival—an international gathering of experts and leaders in innovation,” said Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Dr. Rafaelita Aldaba.
The festival is being organized in partnership with DTI, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Science and Technology, Distributed Ledger Technology Association of the Philippine, FinTech Philippine Association, and more.
This two-day event is a chance to listen to and converse with experts in all sorts of fields, such as the future of banking, industry transformation, financial inclusion, mobile wallets, e-commerce, and more.
Day one will be composed of a series of plenary sessions covering topics like the state of tech in other ASEAN countries, Southeast Asia’s next super app, smart cities, blockchain, and investments, with speakers from Grab, Huawei, Microsoft, Silicon Valley, and more.
Day two will have breakout sessions where participants can sign up to one of three tracks: The Future of Finance, Transforming Industries, and Blockchain For Enterprise. Each track will be composed of talks and workshops throughout the day, covering a range of topics, such as the startup life cycle, government regulation, real estate technology, decentralizing finance, supply chains, and finding the Philippines’ elusive startup unicorn.
Side events will include The Final Pitch: Philippine Fintech Festival Edition, an offshoot of the television show that will be a lightning round of pitches from startups to angel investors; Business Matching, where startups can meet and collaborate with potential partners, stakeholders, regulators, and executives; Trade Connect, which will let businesses learn about the best practices and network with fellow entrepreneurs; Hackathon, where participants will be challenged to come up with banking and finance solutions on the spot; and the PFF Awards, which will award the top fintechs, startups, and innovative companies in Southeast Asia.
