Elon Musk Set to Become World's First Trillionaire by 2024, Report Says

Oh my god, how?

In other eyebrow-raising, "how-the-hell—" news, we might see the first trillionaire in the world by as early as 2024. And who is most likely to receive that distinction? No, it's not those other famously filthy-rich-tech-mogul billionaires like Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates. It's real-life Tony Stark himself (we don't like this tag any more than you do), Elon Musk.

While he's busy working out the details on his Twitter deal, he's out here still making more than basically 75 percent of everybody else in the planet. According to a report by Approve, a firm that focuses on enabling "finance and procurement teams to gain visibility and control over spending," there are about 21 names vying for the "first trillionaire of the world" title. And they all have a pretty realistic shot at it, too.

In Musk's case, he is highly likely to become the first trillionaire in history, based on his wealth's current growth trajectory. The report on the SpaceX founder reads: “Since 2017, Musk’s fortune has shown an annual average increase of 129 percent, which could potentially see him enter the trillion-dollar club in just two short years, achieving a net worth of $1.38 trillion by 2024 at age 52...SpaceX generates massive incomes by charging governmental and commercial clients to send various things into space, including satellites, ISS supplies, and people.”

As the leader of Tesla and SpaceX, Musk has been on a lifelong mission of space exploration and even beyond. Musk’s SpaceX is currently valued at $100 billion after its funding round in December 2021. His 25-percent stake in Tesla should help him hit the mark, as well.

Originally, it was Bezos who was supposed to be that first trillionaire guy. Gates and Bezos are actually not that far behind. However, the next guy on the list is neither of them. Instead, it's Gautam Adani and family. Adani is the chairman of the commodity trading business Adani Group, and has a portfolio that stretches from coal mines, defense, and ports to power plants, airports, data centers, and more.

Beijing ByteDance Technology Co. Chairman and Founder Zhang Yiming, on the other hand, is third in line. He should reach that status by 2026. Yiming founded one of the world's most valuable startups in ByteDance. If it doesn't ring any bells, well, maybe this will: it's the company that introduced TikTok and Toutiao into our lives. ByetDance is valued at a whopping $75 billion.

But hey, as Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights once said, "if you ain't first, you're last."
