In the latest wealth report on the interests, passions, and hobbies of the world’s one percent, Wealth-X, a leader in wealth records and insights, analyzed the pursuits of high net worth individuals (HNWI) and found that sports dominated the interests of one-percenters. The report estimates that there are over 2.6 million very high net worth individuals (VHNWI) with assets between $5 million and $30 million, and just under 300,000 ultra-high net worth individuals (UHNWI) with assets beyond $30 million.
Of these HNWI, their top pursuits outside of business are:

Golf is the leading sport of the wealthy, and we’re not surprised. Golf is as much about playing as it is about prestige. The sport has long been associated with exclusivity, private clubs, and deal-making. Soccer is also an unsurprising item on the list. As the world’s most popular sport, many VHNWI and UHNWI play their hand at buying and managing sports teams like playing cards. Commercial involvement of the wealthy in soccer clubs has increased dramatically in the last 10 years.
