With the massive campaigns they've been running, it may be likely that the senatorial aspirants are the only names you are aware of. But the mid-term elections will not only bring 12 new legislators to the Senate for a six-year term, it will also elect new officials to local government units.

If you don't know the names of the candidates aspiring to be your city’s mayor or your district’s representative in Congress, the sample ballot templates on the Commission on Election (COMELEC)’s website may help.

1| Under the Elections tab on the COMELEC website is a page directing you to all the facts of the past four national and local elections. Click the “2019 Local and National Elections” option, and you will be directed to all the details of the May 13 election.

2| On the right side of the page is a directory of all the content embedded in the microsite. Click the “Ballot Face Template” and it will generate a list of all the regions and their corresponding cities, municipalities, and districts.

3| Once you click the district where your voting precinct is located, the page will generate the sample ballot that will be distributed to voters at your location on election day.

It’s a good way to check if a candidate you have in mind is really running for a seat in local office, or if he or she has been replaced by a party mate. First-time voters may also get a glimpse of how a voting ballot looks like so errors can be avoided when voting.
