Barangay Kalusugan Has 3 Cases of COVID-19, Now on Heightened Enhanced Quarantine
As if “enhanced community quarantine” wasn’t enough, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte announced yesterday the city is placing Barangay Kalusugan and Barangay Tandang Sora under “extreme enhanced community quarantine."
“In Barangay Kalusugan, we will implement a heightened community quarantine,” said Michael Marasigan in a press conference. Marasigan is head of the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. Barangay Kalusugan translates to “Health Town”.
The two barangays have three cases of COVID-19 each. Households with patients who tested positive for the virus are tagged as “hot zones”.
“Hot zone simply means an area where we will implement extreme enhanced quarantine. Residents of these homes may no longer leave their houses or enter other people’s homes,” said Marasigan.
A “warm zone” was set within 500 meters of the houses of people who tested positive for COVID-19. “In the warm zone, we will implement strict monitoring surveillance within a 500-meter radius (from the hotzone), so it’s an area quarantine,” said Marasigan.
The Department of Health announced on March 18 that the number of cases of COVID-19 in the country was 202.
