Carlo Katigbak Holds Back Tears as He Speaks to ABS-CBN Employees

ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Lopez Katigbak was not shaken by the grilling of Congress regarding the ABS-CBN franchise.
In the past 13 hearings, he calmly and respectfully denied the serious allegations of violations of the law and other issues thrown at ABS-CBN.
He also directly answered the questions of the congressmen.
But on a rare occasion, Katigbak's anguish was reflected when he spoke to the employees on ABS-CBN.
Katigbak is seen in a virtual meeting with employees of the network. The video was shared by actor Gerald Anderson on his Instagram on Sunday, July 12.
“Magandang hapon mga Kapamilya. First of all, I want to thank everyone for...”
Katigbak stopped speaking and seemed to suppress emotion.
He tried to smile, but he bent down his head and took a deep breath before continuing to speak.
"First of all I want to thank everyone for fighting with us," said Katigbak whose voice started to crack up. He touched his throat and seemed to hold back the tears.
In a separate Twitter post, other parts of Katigbak’s speech are shown.
"I want you to know that in this pain, we rediscovered what it means to be a family," says Katigbak.

On July 10, the House of Representatives denied giving ABS-CBN a franchise.
Katigbak was later seen among the employees of the network holding a vigil outside the company’s building.
