Winning Senators and Party-Lists Are Set to Be Proclaimed on May 18 and 19, According to the COMELEC
The Commission on Elections is set to proclaim the winning senators on May 18 and the winning party-list groups on May 19 as it continues to canvass the votes cast in the recent national elections, a poll official said Sunday.
Winning senatorial candidates will be proclaimed on Wednesday afternoon as long as the certificate of canvass or COC from Hong Kong arrives on Monday, Comelec Commissioner George Erwin Garcia said.
It will be followed by the proclamation of party-list groups with guaranteed seats in Congress on Thursday afternoon, he added.
The Comelec, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, has canvassed 159 out of 173 COCs as of Sunday.
Comelec acting spokesperson Rex Laudiangco said the proclamation of winning senators and party-list groups will be held separately in order to observe minimum public health standards. Senators-elect will only be allowed to bring up to five companions, Garcia said.
Party-list groups which garnered high number of votes may also be proclaimed even without the completion of the canvassing of votes for the party-list elections, Laudiangco also said.
The senatorial candidates who are part of the winners' circle of 12 based on partial and unofficial count in the Comelec's transparency server are:
- Robin Padilla
- Loren Legarda
- Raffy Tulfo
- Win Gatchalian
- Chiz Escudero
- Mark Villar
- Alan Peter Cayetano
- Migz Zubiri
- Joel Villanueva
- JV Ejercito
- Risa Hontiveros
- Jinggoy Estrada
These are the top party-list groups based on the partial and official tally, Comelec said Thursday:
- Ako Bicol
- Ang Probinsyano
- Ako Bisaya
- Probinsyano Ako
- Tutok to Win
- Senior Citizens
- Duterte Youth
The canvassing of votes for the presidential and vice presidential race will be handled by Congress, which will resume session on May 23.
