Hospicio de San Jose Is Under Lockdown and It Needs Donations
An island orphanage in the City of Manila is in need of donations after being placed under COVID lockdown, barring all individuals from leaving the premises to purchase supplies.
Hospicio De San Jose is located in Isla Convalecencia under the management of the Sisters of the Daughters of Charity. According to the post of Rupert Patrick Cayubit in the Community Pantry PH Facebook group, the island is currently on lockdown as 14 of the orphanage's staff along with 4 elders tested positive for COVID-19. There are about 450 people on the island.
Church-run Radyo Veritas posted a similar announcement.
People in the orphanage will undergo a swab test, but are barred from leaving the island.
"They are running out of food because nobody is donating to them and the sisters are worried about the children and elders," Cayubit said in his post.
According to Cayubit, the sisters prefer assistance in kind especially food. Babies and elders need diapers, while children need milk. You may drop off or deliver donations directly to:
