Businesses in the tourism sector have been non-operational since community quarantine was enforced in the Philippines on March 15. Hotels, resorts, tour operators, and travel agencies have been waiting for the day when it's finally safe to reopen—but some businesses won't restart their operations when that time comes. In a Facebook post on June 9, Sun Cruises Inc.—which runs the only ferry ride that brings guests to and from Corregidor Island in Cavite—has announced the closure of the company effective May 16.

"We wish to convey our warmest thanks for all the support and patronage you have shared with us all these years. We will forever treasure the fond memories of each tour and each voyage you and your families entrusted with us for so many years," the notice said.

On April 13, the Management echoed General Douglas MacArthur's promise: "We shall return!" But it seems like the situation was worse than everyone expected.

Sun Cruises started their operations in 1988, and has since provided not only a convenient transportation from Manila Bay to Corregidor Island, but also educational tours and comprehensive packages as you go around the historic destination. They also offered sunset cruises with onboard buffet around Manila Bay.

For refund queries, you may reach Sun Cruises, Inc. through (02) 8465-8840, 0998-968-3256, and [email protected]
