22,366: New Record-High COVID-19 Cases in the Philippines

With one day left remaining in August, COVID-19 cases in the country have hit another all-time high at 22,366—surpassing the recent record-high of 19,441 on August 28. 

This brings the total COVID-19 cases in the Philippines to 1,976,202, of which, 148,594 are active cases, according to data from the Department of Health. 

Among the months since the pandemic started in 2020, this month of August also had the most infections recorded, standing at 387,237 as of this writing. Based on DOH records, this is higher than July’s 176,406 cases—a 219-percent increase in infections.
