DOH Declares Over 40,000 Covid-19 Recoveries on August 16
The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Sunday, August 16, that 40,937 individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered.
The DOH arrived at the figures because of the time-based tagging methodology, which resulted in the 38,000 recoveries on July 30. Under this methodology, cases with mild symptoms or no symptoms (asymptomatic) are tagged as recovered if the onset of their illness was more than 14 days ago.
The latest report puts the total recoveries to 112,586.
As of this writing, the total COVID-19 cases in the Philippines stands at 161,253 . Of the total, only 46,002 are active cases or patients who still have not recovered from the virus. This represents a 44 percent drop from 83,109 active cases on August 15.
