Don't Touch Duterte
By order of the Presidential Security Group (PSG), no one will be allowed to touch President Rodrigo Duterte as COVID-19 continues to spread.
PSG commander Colonel Jesus Durante revealed the “no-touch” policy earlier today, March 9, to Inquirer.net. The policy is being implemented as a safety measure for the president to ensure his health and safety, as well as his family’s.
The PSG chief said all PSG personnel, politicians, and dignitaries scheduled to meet with the president will be “thoroughly screened and tested” for illnesses and symptoms.
While certain events requiring the president’s attendance cannot be canceled, PSG is strictly following health protocols set by the Department of Health (DOH).
As of March 9, there have been 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, and the DOH has declared the country is now under Code Red due to the spread of COVID-19. Code Red means that all hospital personnel must now report for duty at their respective facilities to provide medical services.
