Kanye West has announced his intention to run for president of the United States of America, and what better platform to do it than on Twitter?

"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States," said West in a tweet.

His tweet ignited the Twitterverse, which caught the attention of high-profile personalities including Elon Musk, who threw his support behind the American rapper.

"You have my full support!" Musk tweeted back.

West and Musk's friendship go all the way back to 2015 when Musk did the writeup for West for Time 100.

"Kanye's belief in himself and his incredible tenacity—he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut—got him to where he is today. And he fought for his place in the cultural pantheon with a purpose," Musk wrote in 2015.

West is a huge fan of Musk's Teslas, which are among the cars he drives. In 2018, West tweeted that he loves Tesla because he feels like he's in the future whenever he drives it.
