'Emaciated' Kim Jong-Un Sparks Worries in North Korea

Recent footage of Kim Jong-Un has sparked concerns about the health of North Korea’s dictator, Kim Jong-Un. In a rare comment published on the state’s tightly controlled media, an unidentified man described the Supreme Leader’s appearance as “emaciated.”
"Seeing respected general secretary (Kim Jong Un) looking emaciated breaks our people's heart so much," the man said in an interview aired by state broadcaster KRT on Friday.

The man was reacting to a clip of Kim shown on a giant screen at a public square, in which the leader was visibly thinner compared to his appearance a mere four months ago.
The broadcast, which was aired on the state-controlled KRT channel, did not specify what caused Kim’s weight loss.
In 2020, Kim made world headlines after rumors of his death circulated, fueling speculations about his ailing health. At the time, Kim did not appear in public for months, even missing important ceremonies such as the birth anniversary celebrations of state founder Kim Il Sung on April 15. He only reappeared a month later.
