Filipino Language To Be Taught in German University

Unknown to many, the Philippines has been promoting the use of the Filipino language in other countries. It is taught in some of the most prestigious universities in the world, including Sorbonne University in France, Osaka University in Japan, University of London in the U.K., and the University of Hawaii.
Through the efforts of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), Filipino will now be taught at Humboldt University (HU) in Germany. It will be part of the university’s Advancing Philippine Studies Program, which aims to enrich academic programs, projects, and activities related to the culture, society, and history of Filipinos and the Philippines.
HU was established in 1810 by Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt. Wilhelm was a philosopher and linguist who spent his life studying languages of the Philippines. Currently, HU ranks 120th in the world’s best universities based on the QS World University Rankings.
