Someone Just Hacked Senator Gatchalian's Credit Card to Order P1 Million Worth of Food on FoodPanda

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian took to Twitter to share that his credit card had been hacked to pay P1 million to a merchant by the name of "Food Panda."

"My credit card has just been hacked! May nag order ng P1M worth of food sa Food Panda in less than an hour," wrote the senator.

"Ano yan lauriat para sa buong barangay???" he joked.

The plot thickens as Gatchalian reveals the hacker changed the credit card's contact number so that the hacker and not the senator would receive the OTPs. 

The senator seems to be taking the hack in stride, joking that he "just don't know how he (the hacker) will eat a million worth of food."

According to Gatchalian on DZBB, UnionBank warned the senator in an email of a suspicious transaction but he read the email late. Now, the senator has filed a police report and he intends to conduct a senate investigation into whether banks have enough protection against hackers. 

As for the now P1 million credit card bill on his account, he has no plans to pay for the hacker's enormous foodpanda order. Luckily, the bank will absorb the amount since it's insured. 

But we still have so many questions. 

Is it actually foodpanda, the delivery platform, or a different account pretending to be "Food Panda"? Who the hell needs P1 million worth of food? Is there a foodpanda van? Truck? Ship? What does P1 million worth of food look like?

What did they even order? 

And most importantly, just how high is the senator's credit card limit?!

Jokes aside, we hope the senator gets this sorted out. He's now part of the growing crowd that's been targeted by hackers and credit card fraud. Protect your credit cards, folks.
