House Rep Files Joint Resolution Granting ABS-CBN a Provisional Franchise Until June 30, 2022

Cagayan de Oro Representative Rufus Rodriguez has filed a join resolution to grant ABS-CBN a provisional franchise until June 30, 2022, which marks the end of the 18th Congress.

This is one of many documents that have been filed in the House on the matter of ABS-CBN’s expired 25-year franchise. There are currently 12 other bills filed in the House, all of which are still pending deliberation and approval.

Unlike the House bills, Rodriguez has put forth a join resolution addressing both the House and the Senate to address the matter immediately. House Joint Resolution No. 30 states that Congress requires “additional time to review, assess, and determine whether or not ABS-CBN shall be granted a new franchise.”
