A Hunter Who Shot Wild Animals for Fun Was Shot Dead

Riaan Naude was a well-known trophy hunter—someone who kills big wild animals for sport. On his Instagram page, Pro Hunt Africa, he poses with dead animals killed in the African savanah: a dead African elephant, a dead juvenile giraffe, a dead gazelle, a dead baboon. 

But Naude became the target of an unknown assailant when he was shot dead while he was on his way to hunt and kill more animals. The incident happened during Naude’s hunting expedition in Lampopo, South Africa. 

According to local authorities, no suspects have been arrested for the killing of Naude, and no motive could be determined as of this writing. But according to Joseph Wilkinson of New York Daily News, a rancher in the area heard a car speed off after the gunshot.
