House Recognizes Neurologist and Art Enthusiast Dr. Joven Cuanang On His 80th Birthday
The House of Representatives has adopted a resolution seeking to honor Dr. Joven R. Cuanang on his 80th birthday on December 31 for his work not only in the field of medical science but also for his contributions to the art world. Cuanang is renowned at the country’s top neurologist, and as an art enthusiast.
“For more than 60 years, his unselfish devotion in the promotion of arts and culture has touched the lives of every Filipino, and it is only proper to honor him, his works, achievements and contributions, as he is truly an outstanding and exemplary Filipino who is an inspiration to everyone,” read House Resolution No. 24.
Cuanang is the director of the Asian Cultural Council. He also established the Pintô Art Museum in Antipolo, which has a vast collection of priceless pieces by notable artists. Cuanang is also senior vice president for Medical Affairs and medical director of St. Luke’s Medical Center, where he practices as a neurologist.
Ilocos Sur Rep. Kristine Singson-Meehan, in a report by the Manila Bulletin, elaborates on Cuanang’s role in promoting Filipino artists on the international stage. Cuanang “created Pintô International, where he promotes Filipino artists and their works in the international stage, providing support, encouraging greater and broader appreciation for their works, fostering cultural diplomacy,” Singson-Meehan says.
