TV host-actor KC Montero and his wife were among the 121 people, which included foreigners, who were arrested at a high-rise restaurant and bar in Makati City yesterday, June 28.

This is in violation of Republic Act 11332 (Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act) or violation of existing social distancing due to coronavirus pandemic is the case filed against them.

According to Makati City Police Chief Colonel Oscar Jacildo, he received reports of a large gathering at the Skye restobar on the 18th floor of a condominium building in Salcedo Village, Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City.

The guests reportedly did not comply with the enforced quarantine restrictions, and were thus raided by the police.

In an interview with GMA News, Montero insisted the people at the restobar were following social distancing when police suddenly arrived.

He promised, "I think, for the people who are going there, I think what they thought was it was open. So you're allowed to go. And on top of that, everybody was practicing social distancing. The tables were wide apart, were far apart."

"In less than five minutes, the cops were there. 'What is this?' I thought, a little bit of a cop, like waiters, like, a gimmick or something.”

Montero said he lived in Pasig City, and left his house with his wife to eat at the restaurant that was raided by the Makati City Police.

"That place was open before, so I feel like, okay. Why were they open if they're not allowed to open? Maybe that's my fault, I didn't do my research. So, I'm feeling, they're allowed to be open. So I went ..." Montero said.

The TV host-actor then criticized the crowded truck that brought the arrested persons to the covered court of Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo.

“That's, like, backwards social distancing. They arrested us for protecting us for social distancing, then forced us to not social distance, and then put us ... did you see the truck there? That's bad," Montero said.

The owner and representative of the restobar declined to comment, but they insisted that they did nothing wrong and that they were compliant with reducing customers allowed inside the restaurant.

The restaurant can accommodate up to 800 people, but they only allowed 200 guests to enter.
