'Sampolan Natin': Mayor Nieto Angry With Contractors Who Leave Potholes

An angry Mayor Johnielle Keith “Kit” Nieto of Cainta posted a photo of a pothole allegedly created by Manila Water Corporation (MWC) after it installed pipes beneath the road.

“Sa Marick ito. Sample ng mga hukay ng MWC na hindi na nila inaayos pagakatapos latagan ng tubo. Tapos gobyerno ang aayos. Pinatrabaho ko na ngayon. Tulad ng ginagawa ko sa ibang mga lugar na puro lubak, sampolan natin.”

(“This is in Marick subdivision. A pothole left from the work done by the MWC, who failed to fix the road after installing pipes. And they expect the government to shoulder the expenses. We’ll see about that. Just like how we do it in other places with potholes, let’s teach them a lesson.”)

“Nanette Villafuerte, identify the contractor and file appropriate cases in court. Hold all MWC installations and requests for excavation until they cover all the issues we raise,” added Nieto. 

Nieto is known to be one of the maverick mayors of the country. He uses social media to engage his constituents, often giving witty replies to comments on his Facebook account. He has also used the platform to hear complaints from Cainta residents. Potholes are some of the complaints he quickly responds to.
