Filipino Olympian and skateboarder Margielyn Didal has captured the hearts of Brazilians, who flooded Twitter with praises for the athlete.

While competing in the Tokyo Olympics, Didal bonded with Brazilian skateboarder and silver medalist Rayssa Leal. The duo captured the attention of the South American nation because of their TikTok video. In one tweet, a Brazilian fan described Didal as someone they’d love to invite over for a barbecue because of her positive vibes.

Another Twitter user from Brazil congratulated Leal and Didal. “In Brazil, we cheered a lot for [Margielyn] and for Rayssa, it's a shame she got hurt… her charisma, sympathy, and joy won us over.”

Another Brazilian became an instant fan of Didal’s. “You're already a legend in Brazil, Didal. Your charisma is unmatched and watching you in the Olympics was a joy. Cheers from an instant fan,” wrote Brazilian Twitter user Eduardo Santos.

Didal was the most talked about topic on Twitter in Brazil on July 26. Despite not winning a podium finish, it was clear Didal won the hearts of millions of people around the world because of her warmth and chill vibes. The official Twitter account of the Tokyo Olympics even noticed.

Brazilian social media influencer Luscas, who has seven million followers on Twitter, described Didal as a “Lenda” (Legend) and wrote, “DIDAL O BRASIL TE AMA.” (“Didal, Brazil loves you.”)

Didal displayed true sportsmanship by cheering Leal and other opponents during her stay in Tokyo. Didal shot to fame in 2018 after winning a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games.
