Filipino Nurse Is the Youngest Recipient of Top 100 Healthcare Leaders Award

Pinoy nurse and entrepreneur awarded as one of the Top 100 healthcare leaders.

Filipino nurse and businessman Dan Lester Dabon was included in the Top 100 healthcare leaders in the world.

Dan Lester, 32, is the youngest and only Filipino on the said list of the International Forum on Advancements in Healthcare (IFAH) for the year 2020-2021.

Recipients of the award are usually in their 50s.

IFAH is an international healthcare events firm that aims to unite healthcare industry leaders from around the world for the advancement of global healthcare.

Currently, Dan is an overseas Filipino worker in Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, where he has been living for a decade.

He is also the founder and chief executive officer of DLD Health Consulting Services, which is now based in the Philippines.

In an interview with CNN Philippines on Friday, August 20, 2021, Dabon said “For me, this is very personal and for me this is an achievement, so far.

“Because I got to represent my advocacy in a global platform, knowing that healthcare management needs to be looked into, especially in the Philippines.

“And I know that this recognition is just a bonus. But at the end of the day, we still need to continue the legacy and advocacy of promoting what healthcare should be, the governance and leadership of healthcare. "

Dan has come a long way starting as a nurse assistant in Abu Dhabi.

He graduated nursing from Brokenshire College in Davao City in 2010.

He completed his master's degree in healthcare management at SBS Swiss Business School in the UAE in 2018.

Currently, he is a risk officer at a leading medical facility.

Dan described his work, “We focus more on being proactive than being reactive.

“So based on the identified hazards and risks and depends on the magnitude, or the severity of what has to come, or what has to happen, or what would be the consequence of such incident, we develop projects, initiatives, and programs to ensure that these risks are properly mitigated.

"And aside from that, if these are reactive cases, we look into the trend and we analyze the data for us to be able to provide high-level action plan for us to reduce the residual risk rating."
