Pasig City residents are in for a treat. Their LGU is reportedly the first LGU in the country to have an approved vaccination plan, according to Mayor Vico Sotto.

In a tweet, the mayor stated that Pasig’s vaccination plan was approved by the Department of Health and World Health Organization after vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. and testing czar Vince Dizon gave the LGU a thumbs up during a meeting with Pasic City officials.

This brings Pasig City one step closer to vaccinating its constituents as a DOH- and WHO-approved vaccination plan is required by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) before an LGU can roll out its vaccines.

The DOLE vaccine checklist is comprehensive, with Pasig passing each requirement. Pasig City will be carrying out its vaccination plan in three phases: pre-vaccination, vaccination, and post-vaccination. The city also has 16 vaccination sites in place that will be administering the vaccine to 33,000 people per week. A floor plan of the vaccination facilities has also been revealed, which will guide residents as to each step they’ll take.

During the meeting between Pasig City officials and the National Task Force Against COVID-19, Dizon applauded Sotto’s efforts.

“We can see that Pasig City is a model for the entire Philippines because of the leadership of Mayor Vico Sotto. With the support from the national government, we were able to slow down COVID-19 cases. Even during the Christmas and New Year holidays, we didn’t see a significant surge in the number of cases,” Dizon said in Filipino.

With its vaccination plan approved, Pasig City will now be able to receive the vaccine doses it has purchased. The LGU has allotted a budget of P300 million to vaccine procurement.
