Construction is officially underway for the Philippine Arena’s conversion into a mega quarantine site.

While select hospitals like Philippine General Hospital and instant hospitals like Ninoy Aquino Stadium will handle medium to severe cases of COVID-19, Philippine Arena will care for COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms and asymptomatic patients.

Last week, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president Vince Dizon confirmed that the Philippine Arena would be turned into a quarantine facility.

Philippine Arena was offered to the government by its owner Iglesia ni Cristo as part of the group’s effort to join the fight against COVID-19.

The Philippine Arena is located in Ciuded de Victoria in Bulacan, and is currently the world’s largest indoor arena with a seating capacity of more than 50,000. It’s not yet confirmed how many patients the arena will be able to house, but it will inarguably be the biggest COVID-10 medical facility in the country.
