As the world burned around him, pianist Peter William Geddes played 'Eternal Flame.'

In Barcelona, Spain, riots erupted after the government declared a six-month-long lockdown with curfew to contain the spread of COVID-19. Sporadic protests also erupted in Madrid, Málaga, Vitoria, Valencia, Santander, and Burgos on the same day.

Footage of the riot was captured on November 2 by broadcaster Ciara King. She posted a video on Twitter in which a busker named Peter William Geddes is seen performing The Bangles’ 1988 hit ‘Eternal Flame’ on an electric piano.

As chaos and explosions are seen behind Geddes, the pianist remains unfazed and continue playing. Dozens of police SUVs are seen dispersing crowds who threw explosives and molotovs at them.

“The juxtaposition of the man on the piano playing ‘Eternal Flame’ by The Bangles and the scene unfolding behind them is quite something,” commented King.
