Manila to Implement "Lockdown" in Sampaloc

Mayor Isko Moreno on April 19 confirmed that Sampaloc in the city of Manila will be placed under lockdown amid the continuous spread of COVID-19 in the area. The schedule and specific measures are yet to be announced, and the authorities are still "planning it carefully."
Sampaloc has recorded a total number of 98 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 158 suspected cases, which means that the district has the highest number of cases in the whole city. On April 1, it recorded a significant jump of new cases in one day: 41 confirmed.
As part of Manila's response plan, 13 testing booths have been installed with locations in Gat. Andres Hospital, Ospital ng Tondo, Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Sta. Ana Hospital, Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital, and Delpan Quarantine Facility.
