Tito Sotto on NBI vs. Vico Sotto Case: #&%@?!?!
It looks like even Tito Sotto has lost his cool.
After his nephew Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was summoned by the National Bureau of Investigation for allegedly violating the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto is questioning the bureau’s decision to go after his nephew on seemingly baseless grounds.

According to the senator, he is advising the NBI to act with caution on its interpretation of the law, especially since alleged violations cannot be retroactive or applied to an action that took place before the law was even enacted.
One more important piece of information: Tito Sotto was the principal author of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, the very law being used against the Pasig City mayor, so he probably has some expert insight on the matter.
The Senate president also noted that the case should be handled by the Department of Interior and Local Government instead of the Department of Justice, which is where the NBI falls under.
