To Win the Elections, Candidates Need to Sway Voters in These Cities and Provinces

This year’s presidential elections are in full swing, and candidates are already busy criss-crossing the archipelago on their campaign sorties. According to the Commission on Elections, there are about 65.7 million Filipinos who are registered to vote this year, plus another 1.69 million who are overseas.
If it seems like the candidates are going to the same locations, that’s not a coincidence. Data provided by the Comelec has revealed the cities and provinces with the most number of eligible voters, so it only makes sense for the candidates to visit these places to maximize their appearances.

Outside of the National Capital Region, Cebu is still the province with the most number of registered voters, with 3.28 million. Rounding out the top 10 in descending order are: Cavite, Pangasinan, Laguna, Bulacan, Negros Occidental, Batangas, Iloilo, Rizal, and Pampanga.
All in all, voters in the top 30 provinces (including Metro Manila) represent about 73.2 percent of all total registered voters.
In terms of cities, Quezon City in the NCR is a key battleground, with 1.4 million registered voters. According to Reportr, both President Rodrigo Duterte and the late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III led the Quezon City vote in the 2016 and the 2010 elections, respectively.
Other vote-rich cities across the country are the City of Manila (1.1 million), Davao City (992,538), Cebu City (733,044), Caloocan City (700,279), Antipolo City (471,250), Makati City (458,362), Pasig City (457,370), Taguig City (449,359), and Zamboanga City (445,240).
