UP Is Best in the Nation, Jumps From 95th to 65th Top University in Asia
The University of the Philippines (UP) has been recognized as the best university in the Philippines by the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings, placing 65th in the 2020 rankings, which is a 30-point leap from last year’s 95th ranking.
UP broke into the top 100 in 2019 after jumping 61 positions from its 156th ranking in 2018, which followed a 201-250th bracket ranking in 2017.
The top Asian universities in this year’s list are:

2| Peking University, China (China)
3| National University of Singapore (Singapore)
4| University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
5| The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong)
6| Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)
7| The University of Tokyo (Japan)
8| Chinese University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
9| Seoul National University (South Korea)
10 (tie)|University of Science and Technology of China (China)
10 (tie)|Sungkyunkwan University (South Korea)
UP tied with Cankaya University in Turkey for 65th place, ranking just above the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in India and just below the South China University of Technology in China.
Aside from being ranked the 65th best university in Asia and the best overall in the Philippines, UP is also the fifth highest ranking university from the Southeast Asian region.
Only one other Philippine school made it on the list: De La Salle University, which ranked in the 301-350th bracket.
