In December of 2020, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto surprised everyone when he regularized and increased the salaries of 4,339 workers in the city. Now, he has another Christmas gift for 215 of the city’s street sweepers: a significant increase in their salaries.

From P5,000/P8,000 to P12,000 a Month

Sotto has increased the salaries of 215 street sweepers who were earning P5,000 to P8,000 a month, to P12,000 a month.

“215 more employees from CENRO/SWMO whose salaries were only 5K/8K for the longest time, will now be increased to P12,000/month, basta kumpleto ang pasok (as long as they have perfect attendance),” Sotto tweeted.

According to Sotto, the workers would also work full-time or eight hours a day, from a previous shift of only four hours a day.

Marami sa kanila ay street sweeper, makakatulong ito para mapunan ang kulang sa mga eskenita,” he added. (“Many of them are street sweepers, they will help improve our streets.”)
