We Can't Believe We're Saying This, But Nice One, Nancy Binay

Looks like the senator isn't about to let Mocha Uson forget about that gaffe.

You'll remember—partly because it was so recent, and also because, who can forget?—that one time Mocha Uson made the mistake of saying that Mount Mayon was located in Naga. She was responding to the volley of criticisms against her after she had accepted the Thomasian Alumni Award for Government Service from the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association, and began listing all the other issues that she felt people needed to direct their attention to: "'Yung issue ng Dengvaxia, issue ng pagtanggap diumano ni Senator Drilon ng pera galing kay Napoles, at 'yung pinakamahalaga pa 'yung nangyayari sa Naga, ‘Yang pag-aalburuto ng Mayon volcano."

She has since apologized for that mistake, acknowledging the volcano's real location in the neighboring province of Albay. But some people won't let her off the hook quite so easily. Among them was Senator Nancy Binay, who tweeted this just last Friday, March 3:

It's not clear why the senator was in Legazpi. What's clear is that she took the opportunity to snap a selfie with the volcano in the background, subtweeting the errant Asec. It's a petty little burn that references a long-gone issue, sure. But also, as a public servant, she really should have known where Mount Mayon is.

This isn't the first time that Senator Binay has criticized Mocha Uson. In October, during the Senate public information committee's hearing on fake news, she told Uson to choose between being a blogger and being a public official, and that there is no way she can be both. Maybe the good senator can stop picking on the Asec, OR maybe the Asec can stop making it so easy.
