Remember when we could count on statesmen to deliver eloquent speeches—or, at the very least, articulate, logically sound sentences? This year was not the year for that, it seems, as politicians have shown some incredible leaps in logic and amusing brain farts. Here, in no particular order, are some of the most cringeworthy utterances from our best and brightest:

As Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, author of the Police On-Body Cam Act, said: “It is absolutely absurd to suggest that the fear of divine retribution in the afterlife would be more effective than body cameras in addressing police impunity and holding dirty cops accountable for their crimes during our life here on Earth.”

Mocha Uson was visibly flustered during the fake news hearing last October as Sen. Bam Aquino grilled her on the issue of fairness. This embarrassing episode is probably one of the reasons why Uson has decided to attend law school next year.
