Aimé Leon Dore x Timberland's Latest Collab Is Really Pushing the Boat Out

Boat shoes, we're pleased to report, are back. Again.
For a long time they were synonymous with suburb-dwelling dads who needed something fuss-free to slip on for garden-pottering purposes, rather than actual sailors, Old Money blue bloods, or the cool American college kids who embraced them in the early century. But rest assured, the return of preppy style is in full swing, and the boat is quickly rising the ranks as one of 2023's 'it' shoes. And with the launch of Aimé Leon Dore's next take on Timberland's chunky silhouette, expect to see plenty more on dry land.

The New York-born purveyor of modern prep has updated the Authentic 3-Eye Lug with a full-grain leather in earthy hues of moss, charcoal and white, while staying authentic to Timberland's iconic '78 design. The leather upper has been handsewn to the outsole of an Original Timberland boot (which celebrates its 50th year anniversary this year, FYI) creating a tactile base for adventures on rugged terrain as well as the seven seas.
As is the case of every Aimé Leon Dore collab with the yellow-boot brand—think: the 2018 7-Lug boot and 2021's 3-Lug shoe—these are expected to sell out fast. And who knows, it may even enter the wardrobes of the old-timers who wore them before they were cool.
