You’d be forgiven for thinking that Axel Arigato is a Japanese brand. It’s isn’t—it’s actually a Swedish brand, established in 2014 on the promise of creating the sort of elegant, minimalist sneakers that were rising to prominence at the time.

To do this, they stuck to incredibly simple models, inspired by the minimalist aesthetic philosophies of Scandinavian and Japanese design, but sourced most of their materials from Italy and had the shoes themselves made in Portugal. The craftsmanship and quality came first. Then they scaled up by releasing new models and colors on a week-by-week basis, so fans of the label always had something to look forward to. Axel Arigato has since become one of the most well-known brands in the set of contemporary, luxury sneakers. Check it out:

Since then, Axel Arigato has expanded all over the world, and has even reached our shores via Assembly. The local lifestyle boutique brought in the Swedish label late last year, and has recently received a restock.

Axel Arigato sneakers are available at Assembly at SM Aura Premier, Rockwell Powerplant, The Podium, and S Maison.
