A Rare Collection of Sports-Themed Louis Vuitton Bags Are Up for Auction

Sports are in the air. And, by that we mean it's Olympics week and it's all anyone's really talking about. Case in point: a rare auction featuring sports-themed Louis Vuitton bags are up for auction. (Who knew Louis Vuitton had so many sports-themed bags in the first place?)
The auction lot by Bonhams called Luxury Online: Jewellery, Watches, Pens, Handbags has four brand new, never-been-used sports-themed items in Louis Vuitton's monogram: boxing gloves and case, punching bag, football, and a crossbody bag.

These are some very collectible Louis Vuitton items. The boxing collection was designed in a collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld back in 2014. While the football was designed to commemorate the World Cup in France in 1998. Rihanna was spotted with a different edition of the soccer ball at a UEFA Champions League match in Italy in 2019.

Then, there's the crossbody bag which was released in 2009 which sees Louis Vuitton's monogram canvas stitched the same way as a soccer ball.

"There’s no better time than the Olympics week to explore the sporty side of the designer accessories world," said Humphrey Cheung, Bonhams designer handbag specialist. "These items by Louis Vuitton are commemorative and capture the athletic spirit in refined elegance. They will surely ignite international bidding competition no less fierce than the games broadcast this week."

The full lot is currently available to view on Bonhams' site until August 3. Aside from the Louis Vuitton items, there are other exceptional pieces to check out including a Rolex Ref. 6265 Cosmograph Daytona "ROC," Hermès Birkin 30 in black and orange crocodile, and a Patek Philippe Ref. 3945/001 Perpetual Calendar yellow gold watch with moon phases, to name a few.
