Brad Pitt isn't an actor known for making waves on the red carpet. He isn't a style innovator, or a risk-taker. He's a well-fitted tux kinda guy, and hey—there's nothing wrong with that.

But onscreen is a different matter. From Fight Club to Ocean's Eleven to Inglourius Basterds, his filmography is littered with examples of writers, directors, and costume departments using their talents and his God-given looks to create iconic moments in men's style.

Here, we recount our favorites. And if you think that jacket from Fight Club isn't in there... well, think again.

1| True Romance (1993)

A minor but memorable role one year before his major breakout in Interview With A Vampire, Tarantino-scripted crime comedy True Romance showcased Pitt's ability to make even a pot-smoking couch potato look cool. 'Floyd' wore a gray T-shirt on baggy gray track pants (both matched his sofa) and the kind of long hair and goatee-combo today's sleazecore wannabes could only dream of.

2| Seven (1995)

One of the first sightings of the textured crop that would help crown Pitt the World's Handsomest Man throughout the '90s, Se7en also saw him model a nice line in rookie cop tie and suspender combos, and this battered leather coatperfect for picking up your wife's severed head in.

3| Meet Joe Black (1998)

Not to be outdone by a certain upstart called Leonardo's curtains in Titanic the year before, Pitt grew his hair out for the sobathon that was Meet Joe Black. Between that, a razor sharp tux and some standout, boxy '90s tailoring and the film was a style highlight—if not a career one.

4| Fight Club (1999)

The abs; the shades; the hair; the everything. Brad Pitt's Tyler Durden became the template of cool for the decade that followed, inspiring men the world over to pick up a leather jacket (and in some cases, knock out a mate). Not for nothing is his physique still the body men most want for themselves. Looking back, the printed T-shirts are equally inspiring.

5| Snatch (2000)

The turn of the millennium saw Brad Pitt make a caravan-dwelling, bare-knuckle boxer look like the coolest man in the world by way of some expert layering, a sherpa jacket, and some well-deployed traveler gold. You might not like 'dargs,' but you'll certainly like this.

6| Ocean's Eleven (2001)

Yes, the sunglasses are awfully of their time. But in Pitt's standout suit for Ocean's Eleven you have three trends that still stand strong to this day: peak lapels, pastel shades, and a Cuban collared shirt.

7| Babel (2006)

Babel: a tale of how one gunshot can change the lives of dozens of people. Which would be impressive if it didn't pale in comparison to the wave-making powers of Pitt's beard. The covetable salt-and-pepper fuzz influenced thousands of style-seeking men, and may well have been a precursor to the age of peak beard but 10 years after.

8| Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Appalling Italian accent but a standout short back and sides, Nazi-hating, wisecrack-slinging Lieutenant Aldo Raine almost made WW2 look fun (and cemented the 'war hero' as that year's haircut of choice).

9| Fury (2014)

War? What is it good for? Absolutely nothing. Aside from sharp haircuts of the highest (faded) order, that is, with 2014's Fury depicting war as utterly horrendous but fantastically well-lidded.
