The 2022 Winter Olympics are done but that’s not the end of world-class sporting action just yet. The Winter Paralympics 2022 kick off in Beijing next week and Converse has dropped something special just in time to celebrate the upcoming Games.

Building on the overwhelming success of Nike’s revolutionary FlyEase technology which provides accessible footwear that allows for a hands-free, step-in-and-step-out experience, Converse has adopted this super thoughtful tech for the first time and incorporates it into the next gen of one of its most beloved silhouettes. Following Nike classics such as the Air Jordan 1 and the Nike Air Max 90, which previously got the FlyEase treatment, Converse finally gets its turn. Say hello to the Chuck Taylor All Star CX FlyEase.

The CTAS CX FlyEase brings together Converse’s patent CX comfort design and the accessibility of FlyEase, resulting in probably the brand’s most comfortable and smartest shoe thus far. While keeping all the elements that’s made the Chuck an icon of fashion and style through generations, the shoes get an upgrade with a new forward-thinking, futuristic, and sleek aesthetic. The FlyEase cage constructed of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material flexes and rebounds to adjust to however you move. This, paired with the shoe’s heel tab, allow the wearer to get in and out seamlessly without the need to bend over or even use their hands. A canvas upper with a padded stretch-canvas collar together with a padded tongue combine for a locked down, secure fit.

Apart from the shoe’s quick on-and-off functionality, they feel just as good as they look. Converse CX foam is loaded into an innovative insole coupled with a polyurethane leather sockliner to provide all-day comfort. Rounding out this sneaker are a fused toecap and eyerows and a mix of opaque and translucent foxing tapes that help reimagine the Chuck silhouette in a bold new way.

With the Paralympics just days away, we look forward to seeing how these athletes will once again break records and limits that we once thought were there. Reciprocally, what was once upon a time developed for the differently abled, the innovative FlyEase technology is now for everyone. It’s about time that Converse got its own shoe with a collapsible step-in heel and one-pull system and we only hope to see more to come in the future.
