Converse and Undefeated Collab on a New Camo Chuck 70 Mid
Converse once again reunites with its long-standing collaborator, Los Angeles-based sneaker store and apparel brand Undefeated, this time on the newly released Undefeated x Converse Chuck 70 Mid. This reimagination of the iconic sneaker is brimming with that laidback California vibe that Undefeated does so well. It’s basically the Chuck we know and love with the top slightly chopped off, giving the timeless classic a more modern and relaxed feel. The result is a beautifully done shoe where military motifs converge with SoCal style.
For almost two decades now, Undefeated has been one of the top names in streetwear, prolifically dishing out original products, curating other leading brands in street and sportswear, as well as collaborating with some of them on projects such as this one. Since it was established in L.A. back in 2002, Undefeated has continued to grow in the West Coast at a blistering pace with chapter stores located in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Glendale, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. Asia has also been a huge consumer of the brand, with 19 chapter stores found in Japan alone and with branches found in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Shenyang contributing to the brand’s success globally.
Since the Massachusetts-based sneaker company first debuted them in 1917, the Converse Chuck Taylor has pretty much stayed true to its original form over 100 years later. It’s very seldom we agree with shaking up a classic and this has got to be one of those rare occurrences.
Converse x Undefeated
Drawing inspiration from its DNA, Undefeated gives the Half Chuck’s chukka-like silhouette both an athletic and military flavor, consistent with how a lot of their products look. The shoe’s premium 12-oz canvas upper dons the familiar La Brea-developed tiger stripe camo print we’ve seen time and time again. A mil-spec style label on the heel reminds you who’s behind this absolutely drool-worthy Converse sneaker and the city where they’re from.
The brand’s five-strike logo once again appears on the foxing on the shoe’s sidewall, as seen most recently on the two previous Undefeated Chuck 70 collab releases. The egret midsole combines perfectly with the upper’s green camo print for a super clean aesthetic. Co-branded OrthoLite insoles offer all-day comfort while a bright blue outsole gives the shoe a surprisingly refreshing contrast of color. The legendary Chuck Taylor patch logo is muted to blend in with its surroundings because, really, that’s the entire point of camouflage.
A Desert colorway of the shoe dropped exclusively at Undefeated chapter stores just last week. Thanks to the good people at Converse, local fans of both brands can try their luck getting their hands on the Forest colorway of the Undefeated x Converse Chuck 70 Mid beginning this weekend at Converse’s Rockwell, Alabang Town Center and Glorietta stores, as well as in Sole Academy and Commonwealth. The shoe retails for P4,390 and purchases are strictly limited to one pair per person.
