David Beckham’s Chilled-Out Chinos Are Proof That Less Equals More

David Beckham's latest look is proof positive that Coco Chanel's famous adage regarding taking off at least one thing before stepping out the door still rings true. In this era of more-is-more menswear, I'm here for Beckham's fit in a big way. Peep the details: the subtly pooling trousers, the hastily tucked-in tee, the trim bomber in a buttery mocha tone. And, bear with me here, but do we detect a hint of a burnt-orange sock peeking out from just under those cuffs legs? Becks, you sly dog! The man is a maestro.

There's a certain "I had one pint too many in the pub last night and threw on whatever feels most comfortable to grab groceries in" vibe, but we could be projecting here. Beckham's always been willing to really go for it, to admittedly mixed results, so it's been a pleasure to see him age into his role as a lodestar for stylish guys of a certain age. An elder statesmen of elegance, if you will. A veritable OBE of BDE (that's, ahem, Big Drip Energy).

Beckham's also rocking a pair of wildly popular sneakers from friend and fellow Brit Kim Jones's Dior men's line, so let this be your daily reminder to a) support the homies and b) keep it simple, stupid. Sometimes the worst thing you can do for your fit is dramatically overthink it. Make like Beckham and you're all but assured that crucial Coco cosign.
