Dior's Running-Inspired B30 Is a Dad Sneaker That's Here to Stay

The reign of intentionally ugly and extremely chunky sneakers is almost at an end. If we're being honest, we never really got into that whole business. So, it's nice being able to breathe a little easier. The keyword being little, as we're still left with running sneakers that are probably here to stay. We'll take it, though, as a trade-off since there's no question that running sneakers are far better.

Dior's latest release, the B30, is an indication that such sneakers can be sleek and much more functional than their chunky counterpart. That's clearly what Kim Jones had in mind with the B30's clean lines, premium materials, and the overall contemporary update. In other words, it's less about pulling off an ironic dad look and more about paying tribute to the running sneaker and innovating the style as a new high-fashion classic.

The running sneaker inspiration isn't just surface-level either. The B30 incorporates technical materials such as microfiber and mesh to offer flexibility and lightness. And in true running sneaker fashion, it even features graphic, reflective details—only this time using Dior motifs. One on the back, and another on the tongue of the 'CD30' signature.

Hitting shelves on Thursday (October 14), the new take on running sneakers, is getting a big roll-out with five distinct colorways: black, gray, cream, yellow, and olive. Rock 'em with a relaxed suit or—as one traditionally would—with running shorts for a casual day out. Either way, we fully approve. The only thing to consider now would be which colorway to pick up really.
