How to Get Dry When You're Wet From Head to Toe

Say you were caught in a downpour in transit. This is what you need to do to save your clothes.

Got caught in a shower? Here's what you need to do to make yourself presentable again.

Shoes: Stuff with crumpled-up newspaper and dry slowly, away from direct heat. Before they're entirely dry, insert cedar shoe trees to make sure they dry out evenly and maintain their shape.

Suit: Do not hang on a hanger, wring out, or do anything else that could warp its shape. Just lay it flat on a dry towel or cloth and let it air-dry.

Leather jacket: Stuff it with paper towels and straighten out the sleeves and body so the leather doesn't shrivel up. Dry away from any direct heat source and apply leather conditioner such as Zymöl, which uses non-petroleum-based ingredients like beef collagen and coconut oil.

Heavy sweater: Set it flat on a towel or cloth to air-dry, and press gently to extract moisture.
