Longines is often considered the most classic of classic Swiss marques, and for good reason. But now, the Saint-Imier-based manufacturer has take one of its more modern designs, the HydroConquest, and given it an update for 2019.

Made entirely from black ceramic, the recently launched HydroConquest goes hard on the sports aesthetic (highly technical, scratch-resistant, and so on) alongside all the hallmarks of a sound diving watch. That means a 300m water resistance, a unidirectional rotating bezel, screw-in crown, and an innovative double-security folding clasp.

You've every reason to keep it on dry land, though. The polished case and matte dial lends itself as well to an off-duty look as it does as an alternative to your boardroom watch. The rubber strap even means you could get away with it at the gym.

Inside, you can expect typical Longines quality. The self-winding mechanical movement (L888.3, to be precise) was produced exclusively.

So while we've every reason to laud the benefits of a dress watch that'll fit the top table, there's always room for a new classic, too. Longines' new Hydroconquest may well tick the box.
