Forget Your Problems And Look At All These Beautiful People

Riddle me this: If you are a very exclusive club of, say, that evolved species of human beings called models, how do you celebrate your 30th birthday? Do you stare into the mirror and count the baby wrinkles on your forehead? Do you go on an all-night bender with your best buds who are not models? Do you weep into your pillow and lament the sorry state of your life?

If you are the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP), the by-models and for-models organization, 30 is not that scary throw-yourself-over-a-cliff age, but a glorious moment that deserves a massive blowout. After all, it's been three decades since PMAP, the first organization of its kind in Asia, began its mission of professionalizing the modeling industry, so that the idols of page and screen can do their jobs and not worry about unreasonable working conditions and mystery payments.

Now, it's all good! So good, in fact, that last week's (black-white-or-gray-only) ball at the Peninsula Manila was, to say the least, epic. And who was there but the fashion family: the supers, including Tweetie de Leon Gonzalez and Apples Aberin, plus a bevy of beautiful ladies and dapper gents, all dressed to kill for a night of supreme partying.
