The Home Alone 2 Adidas Forum Low Is an Instant Christmas Classic
One year on from the buzzy launch of the Home Alone Adidas Forum Low, the Three Stripes is gearing up to drop a Home Alone 2: Lost in New York take on the retro silhouette, just in time for the festive sequel’s 30th anniversary. Like its predecessor, the special-edition sneaker is brimming with nostalgic nods to the unchaperoned adventures of Kevin McCallister.
Bar the conspicuous hang tag and tongue label, each stamped with the film’s logo, the most obvious allusion to Home Alone 2 is the colour palette, manifestly inspired by the Pigeon Lady that Kevin encounters in Central Park. Various shades of pigeon grey unite atop a white foundation, set off by a maroon sockliner reminiscent of the character’s costume.
Graphics located upon lace tags, insoles and on the flip side of the tongue and the hang tag also show appreciation, and the hidden segment of both velcro straps is embellished with one half of the quote, ‘As long as we each have our turtle dove, we’ll be friends forever’, taken from Kevin’s interaction with the character, played by Brenda Fricker.
Alongside the Pigeon Lady references, there are also nods to the McCallister ménage (see the debossed heel motif), the antagonists, Harry and Marv (see the ‘Hiya pal’ lace tags) and the film’s festive setting (see the shoe's very merry interior). There’s also a recognition of its original release date: a green lace tab reads ‘11-20-1992.'
The Home Alone 2 Adidas Forum Low is priced at £100 and scheduled to release on Monday 12 December. To participate in the drop, head on over to the Adidas Confirmed app prior to 8:30 am GMT on drop day.
