How To Survive The Last Few Weeks of Holiday Malling

Our favorite malls want to help you make it through the season in one piece.

We know. We feel it, too. As Christmas draws near, your patience for the other things it brings—bum-numbing car rides, never-ending shopping, pushy kids that keep reminding you they want a Puppadee Hatchimals Surprise (or else!)—runs dangerously low.

It's become so bad you've adopted the perpetual scowl of a Dr. Suess creature. But nobody likes a Grinch (not even the Grinch), so buck up because it is the most wonderful time of the year. Here's how to get through the last few weeks of holiday shopping.

1| Get To The Mall Early

You know you've already lost when you arrive at the mall an hour after it opens. The wisest holiday shoppers have already slipped into the choicest parking slot 10 minutes before the doors open and then, with a solid game plan (a list and dutiful research), finished their shopping a little after lunch. So, get there early. Or stay only for 30 minutes. Ayala Malls has dedicated parking slots for half-hour shoppers. Park, shop, go.

2| Leave The Car At Home

Yes, don't drive. Commuting is not a pain when there are point-to-point buses (as in they only have one stop and leave at regular intervals) that link Ayala's network of malls together. There are also discount codes from Uber (until December 15) and Grab (until January 12) that can be used when traveling to their malls. And if all else fails, call the driver.

3| Don't Go At All

Because you can do your shopping online. In fact, in the spirit of the season and your couch-surfing habit, brick-and-mortar malls have united with online shopping hubs. You don't have to get up from your sofa. Just click here.

4| Get Into The Spirit

The best salve for crankiness is holiday music. Soon as you hear the first bar of “Pasko Na Naman,” that frown that has been plastered on your face since you were so rudely awoken by the dread of not finishing shopping will turn upside down. Don't believe us? Please try not to smile when you hear a chorale singing carols at Central Square every weekend or Lani Misalucha mesmerizing the crowd at Alabang Town Center this Sunday.

5| Forget About Yourself

Truth is Christmas is for the wide-eyed and pure—as in for the kids (or this creature). The whole afternoon can be spent for tots at Central Square, starting with holiday-themed workshops at 2:30 (this Saturday, Christmas socks; next Saturday, storytelling), followed by a Hamley's parade at 4:30; and finished with a trip to Santa's lap at 5. Pro tip: Deposit the kids here while you shop.

6| Be, Uh, Natural

Christmas is the time for the farm-fresh produce! Or that's what the TienDA Farmers and Fisherfolks Outlet would like you to believe. Expect mangos as sweet as sin and other natural delights at very friendly prices. These are perfect for impressing the in-laws. Next stops are at Ayala Malls The 30th on December 16 and 17 and Solenad on January 18 to 21.

7| Spend A Lot—Like A Lot

Forget the mortgage, insurance, and all other responsible adult things, and just spend money like it's water, because the happiness that new stuff brings is more important than the credit card bill that will arrive next year. Also, your extravagant shopping might win you a trip to Paris, London, or Singapore with pocket money. Win-win.
