J.Crew and New Balance's Ultra-Limited 997 Sneakers Are a Celebration of 10 Years of Collaborative Bliss

The peanut butter and jelly of footwear are back at it again.

Peanut butter and jelly. Spaghetti and meatballs. Apple pie and ice cream. We can all rattle off a long list of iconic (non-food related?) pairings that just work. Always have, always will. Well, add J.Crew and New Balance to that tasty list, STAT. Over the last decade, the two have teamed up on mouthwatering sneaker after mouthwatering sneaker, and now they're celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their partnership in the only way appropriate: with another sneaker. (A really, really, good one at that.)

The limited-edition style—only about 1,000 units are being released—is an updated take on the 997, an iconic New Balance silhouette, featuring a color-blocked grayscale suede upper that incorporates reflective 3M detailing throughout, along with a handsome tonal debossed “N” logo, and a co-branded footbed. In other words, it's yet another certifiable classic from two menswear heavy-hitters that just can't seem to miss right now, or, hell over the course of their decade-long, 30-plus-styles span of collaborations.

And the fun doesn't end there. The sneaker itself comes in custom packaging specially created to celebrate the occasion in the form of a black box sleeve with a co-branded foil print that'll have particularly zealous followers of the duo's collaborative efforts—of which there are many—swarming the site in droves. But good news! The sneaker's (somehow) still available in a full run of sizes at this very moment on J.Crew's website, so get in while the getting's still good, guy.
